Whew... and here I was, worried that we wouldn't find some way to escalate this thing.

Let's face it, either they had to expect this (that not all Arab states would sit back and watch) and so made contingency plans--or they were unconscionably clueless and thought we'd be able to act with complete impunity and the rest of the world would sit back and watch, presumably because Sadaam is such an evil man. Either option disgusts me.
