It's all election year politicking. It was a foregone conclusion that Bush would veto (as Doc loves to say on KROQ, 'it would have been news if he hadn't') and the chances the House could reverse that veto were slim, and none. The closest to interesting that this whole story gets is that this is Bush's first veto since taking office.
No, everyone got to make their petty little point on stem cell research, each politician reassuring those that support their position that they made the right choice, and further galvanizing those that oppose them to take action. And nothing of any real import is accomplished.
